CONNECTICUT POLAR BEARS
1. NOTE
WELL ALL COACHES:
Each score sheet contains a box requiring signed verification of the score.
After each game a coach from each team must verify the score by signing
the score sheet. Only the signed score sheet will be used for calculation of
points earned. If a coach fails to
sign a score sheet, the score as verified by the referees, whether correct or
incorrect, will be used for
tournament calculations.
2. All
teams must be USA Hockey or CAHA registered.
3. All
play will be governed by USA Hockey Rules.
4. Players may only be rostered on one team.
5. All players must have legal equipment.
Chin straps and mouth guards are required at all levels.
6. All teams are required to be ready to play 15 minutes prior to scheduled
game time.
7. Teams may consist of a maximum of 20 players with no more than 18 being
skaters.
8. All games will consist of 3 periods, each period consisting of 12 minutes
in length and following stop time rules.
9. The home team is listed first.
For
Quarterfinal and later games, coaches shall flip a coin for home team.
10. During round robin play teams will earn 2 points for a win, 1 point for a
tie and no points for a loss. For
tiebreaker purposes only, teams will also earn 1 point for each period won and
½ point for each period tied.
11. Teams moving on to quarterfinal, semifinal, and final play will be
determined based upon the total number of points (excluding points per period )
earned in round robin play. If two
teams are tied for points (excluding points per period ) after round robin play,
the tie will be broken as follows:
11.1.
First, the head to head result between tied teams,
11.2.
Second, total number of points (including game and period points) earned
in round robin play,
11.3.
Third, the differential between goals for and goals against,
11.4.
Fourth, by dividing goals for by goals against, and
11.5.
Finally, by the flip of a coin.
11.6. If a team is deemed ineligible under Rule 15 below or forfeits any game, that team’s games will not be counted in determining any points in round robin play or in any tiebreaker. In the event there are an unequal number of teams in divisions within a level and teams from all divisions must be seeded, the total number of points earned by the team's) from the division with the lesser number of teams will be prorated based upon the actual number of points earned and games played.
12.
Ties during a Quarterfinal or Semifinal round game will be broken with a
five minute overtime period. If the
tie still remains at the end of the overtime period then the tie will be broken
with a shootout in the following manner. Each team will designate 5 shooters.
Teams will alternate shooters until all 5 for each team have attempted a
shot. The team that has scored the
most goals during the shootout will be the winner of the game.
If the game remains tied after the 5 players for each team have shot,
each team will designate 5 different players to shoot and the process will be
repeated until a winner is determined.
14. Fighting will not be tolerated. Referees will be instructed to eject any players engaged in fighting.
15. Referees will be allowed to forfeit the game of a team guilty of
misconduct. Any team that forfeits
a game will be ineligible for quarterfinal, semifinal, or final play.
16.
Penalties shall be served as follows:
16.1.1.
Minor Penalty:
1.5 minutes
16.1.2.
Major Penalty:
5.0 minutes
16.1.3.
Misconduct:
10.0 minutes
16.1.4.
Game Misconduct:
Ejection plus 1 game
16.1.5.
Second Game Misconduct:
Ejection from tournament
16.1.6.
Fighting:
Ejection from tournament
17.
No appeal shall be allowed from a referee's decision to eject a player
from a game or from the tournament. No appeal shall be allowed from any
discretionary decision or call by a referee or linesman.
