Danielle played for the Polar Bears from 2009 to 2013 and helped her team to a bronze medal finish at the 2011 National Championships. She is now in her senior year at Quinnipiac University.
How did the Polar Bears help to prepare you for the collegiate level of play?
Playing for the Polar Bears gave me the opportunity to play with the top players in New England and compete at the national level. Not only did the pace and level of play prepare me for the speed of college hockey, but playing in major tournaments with the Polar Bears is what ultimately gave me the exposure that lead me to being recruited.
Fitz is one of the best aspects of Polar Bear hockey. He has coached some of the best players to ever play women's ice hockey and I learned a ton from him. He really knows what he's talking about.
Can you talk about what the team environments were like when you played for the Bears?
Some of my favorite hockey memories are from playing Polar Bears. I always looked forward to seeing all of my teammates at Sunday practices or tournaments through out the year.
The Polar Bears program is a family and I still keep in touch with many of my bears teammates today. If it weren't for the Polar Bears I definitely wouldn't be where I am today playing Division I college hockey.
